Default Opportunity to move to LA. Agoura Hills Office=Live Where?

I am mulling over a couple offers to move back to the States, and one is working in Agoura Hills. I'm a California boy, but have been out of the States for a long time. I was last posted back in LA in 2000 for a year or so, and lived in West LA then, and loved it. My office was in BH, so no commute to speak of! Perfect! Now, the office is in AH, but I really know very little of the Valley. I always ridiculed it, and think I probably would enjoy LA more, does anyone have any ideas that might work for me? Commutes to AH-LA, areas I may like, etc??? Am I back to West LA, or???
My rent budget is good, so not too many restrictions, I'm single, 42, straight, and likes my evening watering holes, so please you guys...advice??????

Thanks In Advance!

Jack

Most everything within about a ten mile radius of AH is going to be suburbia, families, hot soccer moms, kids, etc.
Watering holes: Bogeys in Westlake Village but that's just one (40+ crowd), there are probably others.
Sherman Oaks deviates from the suburbia culture a little but probably not to the extent west LA does.
Outside-the-box option: Live in west LA, northwest Santa Monica and reverse commute PCH-Malibu Canyon. May be too painful.
Another option: Ventura, quite a drive, may be some traffic eastbound, especially on those days of the year when the morning sun is in your eyes - and same PM westbound.

How do you see yourself in five years at 47? Watering holes still, or changing diapers? If the former, then re-read above. If the latter, then maybe consider living more local to AH.
