Fire in Griffith Park - Who can see the flames?

I'm glad for Sandyco's update, but there are a LOT more critically endangered animals being bred at the L.A. zoo than most realize.

The Bongo (very large, red with white stripes) antelopes so liked their L.A. habitat that they bred enough to ship them to and to repopulate their former home of Nanyuki, Mt. Kenya. L.A. zoo has many rare Maned Wolves of Argentina (they look like foxes on stilts.) And two species that are utterly extinct in the wild, and have been for the last half century, are amongst the world's rarest breeding colonies, and reside at the L.A. zoo: Prezwalski Wild Horses (they look like the cave painting horses) and Pere David's Deer, the weirdest deer extant, quite large, with backwards antlers and a mule-type tail. Both were slaughterd out of existence in Asia.

Not to highjack this thread onto the L.A. Zoo, but thanks, Fastfilm! I had no idea. I read articles in the L.A. Times about the California condor, so that was what first came to mind - and the zoo spokesman talked about them on the news as well.

This makes me want to go to the zoo before I leave Los Angeles. Thank you fastfilm.

Here's an update since the last time I visited the zoo:

You'll see the Bongos and the Maned Wolves, and the extremely rare relative of the giraffe, the Okapi (which is purple-brown with black and white striped socks, and only the size of a moose)(worth the trip alone) along with all three subspecies of Tapir, but no Prezwalski Wild Horse or Pere David Deer. I think they've gone to breed at San Diego Wild Animal Park.

Were all the animals at the zoo OK? I've only caught a little bit of this fire (I'm in Texas). I did see on the news that they said no homes burned down but one home had slight damage. Also I heard that they have this fire under control.
