Boots - check (I must disclose, I'm even wearing them today)
Hat - check (I prefer Resistol).
Chew can - check (at least back in the day, although these days I'm a cigar man)
Cowboy shirts - not really, I was more prone to have a "Bueno Bultaco" or similar T-shirt, or, in winter, plain old flannel with tartan pattern. Or the down vest with long sleeve T-shirt or thermals. You get the picture ... LOL!
Ha! So you like Hank Williams Jr. too? (I saw him in concert at the Greek Theater years ago. Great concert. Nothing but jukebox songs. )
Ok, first off I would like to congratulate you for being lucky enough not to know what a redneck is. I have been surrounded by them for years, well not the "Real" rednecks, but the fake Yankee wanna-be rednecks. There are a few different types of rednecks but I'll spare everyone my crash course on redneckology....for now.
Bacically this is one of our typical Indiana rednecks; Nascar freak, Budweiser only (if you have beer with real flavor they will call you a homosexual), Zippo lighter on the belt, 2 cell phones one with a Nickelback ringtone and one with some lame midwest rap song (yes our midwest rednecks pride themselves in claiming to be diverse), Pickup Truck usually Chevy, Carhardt jacket with lots of dirt, Blue Wranglers, Walmart Hiking boots, cheap flannel, Their favorite Nascar drivers number all over thier truck, They usually talk with a southern draw but were born and raised far from the south, They pick fights and hate Obama. Usually love drab colors and stagnant environments that do not and will not change.
See you said the magic word and now I'm all hyped up on my redneckology!
Nver seen one of all my times in CA. Ahhh, yes that was nice.
I doubt many of y'all outside the South have seen real rednecks. Working class rural whites maybe, but not true rednecks.

Yeah. I gotta wonder about that Wrangler jeans thing because, back in my time, they wouldn't wear anything but Levi blue jeans. I know Walmart is popular, but I can't imagine rednecks trading in Levis for Wranglers.
I agree with everyone who mentioned plaid flannel -- but what about those plaid flannel padded jackets? Does anyone still wear those.
I got one of those flannel lined jackets, I think. As for the Levi's thing, my uncle still refuses to wear Wrangler's. Also a lot of the older rednecks and cowboy types still roll their own cigarettes. It used to be, at least locally, that if you smoked "store-bought" cigarettes, they would make fun of you. Any small town people who still see fellahs riding their horses through town?

Your probably right. I don't have an issue with the "Real" ones from the deep south, that's just their culture. I just think these northern wanna-be rednecks are pathetic. I went to school with kids who were "normal" and now I see them in public and they are wearing Alabama hats and Nascar shirts and talking with a southern draw...knowing dam well they are fake!!!

What's funny is I now see a lot of Goth type youth rolling their own these days. It's sure cheaper these days given all the do gooder taxes on store bought cigs.
