Take 405 north to the 10 East. The Staples Center is in Downtown L.A. and there is no other way to get there except by car. Best way is by car. Depending on the time of day is a big factor on how much time it will take you to get there. At the wrong time it could take you an hour just to travel 10 miles.

Just find the bus schedules to see if they go that far...if so you would have many changes to make and it would take a very long time to get there. Why would you be going straight to the Staples Center right after landing at the airport..if you don't mind my asking?

Actually, if you're going by car, you might be better off taking the 105E to the 110N.

If you are going to The Staples Center for an event like a concert or a Lakers game, be prepared to spend a long time in the car.

You can easily do it in just one connection. The Flyaway Bus makes that a piece of cake.
Option 1: Take the Flyaway Bus nonstop directly from your terminal at LAX to Union Station in downtown. Depending on where your hotel is, you can then connect to the Red Line subway to get to your hotel or take one of many Metro Bus options that go from downtown towards Staples Center (like Metro 70, 79, 770. 728, Dash D, etc...).
Option 2: Take the shuttle from LAX to the LAX/Aviation Green Line station. Take Green Line (light rail) east to Imperial/Wilmington. Get off and at this station take Blue Line (light rail) north to one of the station's (like Pico Station) near Staples Center.

Avoid using ANY of the MTA busses from the LAX area to downtown where Staples and you hotel are located, next to LA Live because those busses go through some BAD areas and are a long and painful ride.
However, Metro Rail, as in option 2 in the previous post is safe.
But I would recommend option 1 from previous post: use the Flyaway Bus service right outside the LAX terminals to UNION STATION (safe) and following option 2 you may want to transfer to the Blue line at Red Line station 7th street Metro Center. The blue line is right on top of the Red Line and exit the Blue Line at the very first stop. The Blue line may take you closer to your hotel. Check the maps.
