Safety in and around the Cameo Woods or Village Green complexes in Los Angeles/Culver City/Baldwin Hills?
Hi, I am considering purchasing a condo in the Cameo Woods or Village Green complexes. They're very cheap, which is always something to be aware of. But then again, everything is short sale/foreclosed these days.
I like the location for proximity to Culver City, the beach, LAX, and Hollywood. I've been searching online and got some really mixed reviews. It seems like this little area around Target is a decent community and that most of the crime happens east of La Brea. I've driven around at night and during the day and it has perfectly manicured homes, people park their cars outside garages and I've even seen people riding bikes in the dark. There's 24-hour security at Cameo Woods. To me, it looks pretty safe and like a good starter home/investment but I don't want to make a huge and costly mistake!
Does anyone have any feedback on this area? I'm white, American female, 30 years old. Would you buy something in this area? Any advice is much appreciated!

There is nothing wrong with the area, and as you say it is an excellent location.Nice shopping just up Jefferson to Culver City, close to BH, Marina, Lax, West Side.
You really never hear of any crime in that area. I would stay clear of the east of LaBrea areas though. I had a condo in Village Green many moons ago, and I never had any problems.
You should be just fine, and it seems to be a great place for a starter home, and the price is right. Just remember you will not be there forever.
You may also check out the condos on Spring Park & area in Ladera Heights. There are some really good prices right now.
Good Luck!

I have some friends in VG, as well as some off S. Cloverdale between Rodeo and Exposition. Peaceful, neat and well-kept neighborhoods. Things can get somewhat seedy and dicey North of Jefferson though. I'd avoid that area.
