Nice, its amazing the history everyone has.
I am really young (16), but I love seeing what places used to be/look like.

Reseda Apartment early 1960s
Hollywood Bowl maybe 1959 or so
Universal Studios I think
Burbank apartments (I love the cream colors used back then on cars)
The house I grew up in in Canoga Park, probably around 1966 or so.
Canoga Park 1961 or 1962
BUR airport in WWII. Note the camouflage

Santa Susana Pass Road, I think in the 1940s
Newbury Park High School
YMCA in Thousand Oaks 1967

Nice Nita, I remember a Bob's in SVF on Sherman way in Canoga Park. It was a drive in with car hops and you ordered through a speaker. Rootbeer floats in ice cold mugs. Boy was that a treat, I must have been 5 or so... 48 now, where did it go?

How about this... Lived in a small one bedroom apt with Mom and two siblings in North Hollywood. Around the corner was the George Barris Kustom shop. We used to walk over there as a treat to get out. Oh the simple pleasures. Batmobile and Bob Hope golf cart. Life was good!

and has Inglewood changed since then. Our oldest daughter was born at Centenella (spelling) hospital, the second one in Hawthorne and we dreamed of buying in Inglewood but it was out of our price range..by 1960 you couldn't find much under 25,000. We did buy our second home for $19.500 in Gardena, 1963..
Thanks for mentioning the Beach Boys, I certainly didn't know that.
MLD<you are just a little younger than our oldest daughter..time does go by way too fast..except when you are very young, then it goes by too slowly..LOL

nmnita, my Momma grew up in Morningside Park, West Inglewood. The house is still the same, save for the barfy color someone painted it. The magnolia tree my grandmother planted in the front yard back in 1934 still stands tall.

ps the first Bob's was not a drive in as I remember, during the second world war daddy was overseas and every Sunday mom, my sister and I would would go to the movies and stop for hamburgers, It was a little place on Colo Blvd on the Glendale/Eagle Rock border. Then came the first drive in on San Fernando Rd. The original Bobs was replaced by drive in on Colo. Of course eventually they built walk in as well as drive ins.
Just looked over the list, they do not mention either the one on Colorado Blvd in Glendale or the one on San Fernando Rd, interesting.
Last night we were watching the food channel featuring the best sandwhiches in the country, and what do you know? Up popped (no not Bobs big boy) but Phillipes..(spelling)
