Default Advice on moving to LA from London please!!

I visited LA earlier this year and absolutely fell in love with the place. I am now determined to move over there! I don't go into this naively, but at the same time please don't be pessimistic people! I know it is extremely difficult to obtain a visa to live in the States, but was wondering if anyone could give me any possible advice on how I can make this happen?!

I'm a 24 year old female with no intention of becoming an actress/model/stripper...I am establishing a career in fashion and journalism here in London so I would be looking to continue persuing that whilst I was in LA.

I'm figuring my best option is to find a job first and then move out there? (probably the only way to do it as i know under no circumstances am I allowed to search for a job whilst on a tourist visa) but would really like some guidance on how to go about this.

Basically, any suggestions would be amazing!

I suggest you find a job with a British company in London that has an office in L.A. that you can transfer to.

Please visit more than once for as long a time as you can. Visiting here and living here are completely different.

Agreed. LA is nice if you have a good job and a decent paycheck, otherwise you may end up having to live the LA nightmare of a stinky apartment with real crime outside your door.

What we all seem to be saying is get a job lined up first (or have family take you in at first), and LA is wonderful place, but it will chew you up and spit you out if you come out here with $5 in your pocket and no friends or family for support and no job. Crime in the USA is different than it is in Europe and living in a decent neighborhood is extremely important. If you have a GOOD job lined up, then come on down!

Welcome to LA!
It is a great place as you know.

Yes, get a job first if you can. Unless you have LOTS of resources, you will want to nab a job. Based on that you'll need to look at geography re a place to live.

Can you get a work visa? I know people from London who are here temporarily and absolutely love it here.

Hope you can figure out the logistics. You will love it here.
:-)
