Really surprised to see how many native Californian's there are here. I don't think I have met this many in all the years I have lived here which is 40+.

Born in Holy Cross Hospital in Mission Hills. Lived in Tarzana until I was four. Moved to the Central Coast at the age of four (first Lompoc, then Santa Maria area)- then moved back down to LA for college then work. My mom's side of the family has roots in Los Angeles going back to the early 1800s.

Born in Los Angeles, Chinatown area. Moved to Whittier in 1950. Lived in Europe from 1957 to 1962. Moved back to Whittier. In 2003, moved to Carbon Canyon, in Brea OC. Children and grandkids are all native born. Getting ready to move again, too many annual fires close by, too close!

I was just wondering if anyone other transplants feel the same as I do about living in a different state in the beginning of your life and then having your family move here. I came here when I was in grammar school, already loving where I previously lived in NY and just never really felt like I belonged in Ca....like it just didn't feel like home even though I had lived here most of my life. Anyone one else feel like this?

Born at Kaiser Permanente in Woodland Hills, CA a few years after my parents immigrated.
Raised in North Hollywood, CA except for 5th and 6th grade in Phoenix, AZ; 9th grade in NYC
Present: Berkeley, CA

In short, no place like LA!

-I was born at Long Beach Memorial Hospital in 1983.

-Lived in an apartment in Anaheim (Harbor/Orangewood) until 1984.

-Moved to a house in Santa Ana (1st/Bristol ) and lived there until 1986.

-We left Santa Ana, supposedly to "escape the shootings". So we moved to a house in another barrio, this one in Corona (known as Home Gardens, McKinley/Magnolia), where we lived until 1996.

-Mama lost the house to foreclosure, so we moved to an apartment in Riverside (Pierce/Magnolia), where we stayed until 2003.

-I decided I liked Cucamonga Peak, so I moved up to Rancho Cucamonga (CA-210/Haven) for six months, until 2004.

-Life got too expensive, so I followed Mama up to Ridgecrest, where everything was cheap, and stayed until 2007.

-Moved to Aurora, CO (Denver suburb) and stayed until May 2009.

-Moved to Spokane, WA for a job relocation and stayed until September 2009.

-Moved back to CO for a job re-relocation, but we're in the "big city" this time (Denver).

No plans on ever returning to CA. There's more to life than living in the same place for the duration (IMO), but kudos to those of you who can make it there and manage to still like it.
