A family friend is going to LA with her kids and other family. She wants to know the following:

Quote:
1)You know Singaporean loved a bargain shopping where to go for shop till you drop outlet mall?
2)We probably will venture using Metro Rail or Bus safe? / able to get to most places?
3)Trying to find a cheap hotel to stay for 10 days and close by to a metro rail or bus.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hello,
Downtown Los Angeles has a huge clothing district that you can shop at for as long as you can stand to shop. No malls, just wander from shop to shop. Personally, I would not take my small children there. All it would take is one second and you'll be the next mother on the news begging someone to let your baby go.

There are mega discount malls all over.. Ontario Mills, Cabazon to name two. These are much safer if you're planning to shop with your children.

The Metro rail is safe, but please travel during the day, keep your back packs and packages close to you. But honestly, I've taken the Metro to Downtown LA for years to work and I survived.

Extended stay hotels are probably going to be your best best for a 10 day stay.

She had another question:

Quote:
One more question – I am planning to stay at this hotel that is walking distance to the Wilshire/Western Metrolink.
Good neighborhood to be in after dark?

Garment or as it is called now the Fashion district. 90 blocks of clothing, shoes and accesories. Plenty of people selling stuff on the street as well. The majority is wholesale although they have plenty of retail spaces. Try Santee Alley between Olympic and Pico and running parelel to Santee and Maple Ave. We usually take the 10 to the 110 heading North and get off on 9th street. You can also find it from the 101 and the 5 as well.
