I might have a position working out of Pt. Mugu NAS , I was looking at apartments in the Agoura Hills / Calabasas / Thous. Oaks area . What is the rush hour traffic like heading west towards Pt. Mugu from these areas , would I be going the opposite direction of rush traffic. Thanks.

You could check Sigalert

If you were in Thousand Oaks, particularly the Newbury Park section of Thousand Oaks, you could take Portero down to the plains and into Pt Mugu

I worked at Point Mugu from 1986 to 1997. It's a great place to work. Go surfing at lunch. Outdoor roller hockey in a full sized outdoor rink. Swimming pool, lots of great places to cycle off the base at lunch, hiking at lunch up to Mugu Peak, soccer at lunch, basketball in the gym at lunch. Great place.

A lot of people rent in Camarillo, Oxnard, and Ventura. There might be a jam up at the 101/23 intersection so if you are in west Thousand Oaks, like Newbury Park, then it's that much less traffic to think about.

Have you considered Oxnard, Camarillo, or Ventura? Portrero Road as Downtown stated is a good ride from the TO area. It will get you there if you have to live on the east side of the county.

Did you take the job yet? You could live virtually anywhere but Port Hueneme, Oxnard, Camarillo and Ventura are the closest. I know people who live in Simi Valley and work there and it takes them about 40 to 45 minutes depending on the time they leave.

Best apartment I ever lived in just minutes from Pt. Mugu: CSUCI > University Glen Corporation -

Commuting up and down the Grade can be a pain. Check out U-Glen. I think you'll be impressed. And no, I do not work for them, nor did I. I just really liked living there.
