I've attended classes at UC Santa Barbara and CSU Stanislaus. I'm thinking of CSULA now, but I don't know. I grew up in the SFV, but I know the parts of L.A. closer to downtown are dangerous.

if you only plan on going to class there, i wouldn't be worried about the neighborhood, i've never heard of any safety concerns at the actual school.

Obviously SDSU is happy with its name. I would think the same would be true for SF State. Wouldn't Cal State LA be better off as LA State?

(I realize that the only "reverse situation" is San Jose State which actually wants "Cal State" in its name under some dillusional notion that as the earliest school in the system, it would be able to claim "Cal State" in the way that Berkeley claims "Cal")

Why are you interested in that particular campus versus CSUN or Long Beach?

yes its dangerous! the hills that suround Cal State LA are filled with robbing coons and thieving possums!!!

its too dangerous!!! especially for anyone from the SFV...

[sarc off]

csula is in the monterrey/university hills around el sereno. it is not dangerous. i know plenty of people who have attended classes at all hours of the night without incident. theft occurs. cars get broken into, but thats across the board at most urban campuses (altho csula is in a suburban setting).

anyhow, why would people think that its dangerous?
