Hello,

I currently live in the Belmont Shore area of Long Beach and am considering accepting a job that is located in Century city. I am wondering what the commute would be like if I left by 6:30AM each morning and left work about 6 in the evening.... I am trying to evaluate this seriously as my current job is in Irvine and I am just fine with the 40 minute or so commute. I know that the commute to Century city will be more, but please give me a scenario of how much more given the provided time frames.

Thank you, and I very much appreciate your feedback!

I know people who do this drive an swear it only takes an hour. My guess is on the way home it really takes an hour and 15 minutes.

i've done this drive a few times and it is no fun (neither is belmont shore to irvine for that matter). my then girlfriend lived there and i would stay over at her place on occasion. most of the time i would wake up and head out the door by 5:30am or so and go straight to my place near lax, then try to get an extra hour of sleep or so before getting ready for work. a few times i tried heading out around 7am and the drive was definitely over an hour. luckily i never had to make that commute after work, but i would guess that it would also be well over an hour. i would say to plan on 60-90 minutes each way everyday. also, belmont shore is a real nice area, but if this is a great opportunity you may consider moving up to the westside.
