Ok. So I've got two horses and we've decided not to sell them, but we are moving to the Burbank/Glendale area. I need other horsemen and women to tell me where to check on boarding facilities that won't run over $1000 a month--and I am willing to drive up to 1 1/2 hours away to visit them. Good areas? Good prices? They are only pleasure/trail horses, so we don't have any eventing needs. Also, good transportation services? Any advice is appreciated!

The LA Equestrian Center is, I think, expensive for pipe stall boarding. I believe the current rate is over $550. It has the Griffith Park (it's stopped burning) trail system around it, as well as many specialized trainers, and Class A shows of all disciplines there.

The Lake View Terrace area (a further 25 minutes from Burbank, NE, still in the Valley) has boarding at North Middle Ranch for slightly less than $400 a month for pipestalls, and a a fabulous trail system next to it in the beginning foothills of the Angeles Forest.

You didn't say if you were local to Calif. moving in with your horses. If you're used to So. Cal traffic congestion, and don't mind driving to Acton (Antelope Valley, NE of L.A.) or Moorpark (Ventura Couinty) those are other horse boarding areas as well that are about an hour and a half away on a good day. I would still explore boarding your horses nearer by, though. Burbank has a few other boarding stables left.

Here's the link for the major horsekeeping/horse sales magazine that lists most everything equine here, boarding etc. :

Ha! The little ads that come up here relevant to the questions? One of them on this page is for Pacific Dressage, which features not only some photos I took of their quadrille, but also highlights some very good trainers there. They're in Lake View Terrace as well, next to the trail system around Hansen Dam.

Traytray, there are quite a few boarding places left in L.A., the major problem being cost.
