There are professional panhandlers around. There was one in Long Beach that they did an exposť on a while back. The guy pulled in around $500 a day at his spot, walk to his hidden truck, and drive home to his family.

Homeless people will always populate an area where they can sleep reasonably well outside, utilize public bathrooms and showers, and have a combination of residents and non-residents supplying them with money and food.

I've seen people leaving work, handing cash out of their windows to panhandlers, guys/girls on dates, leaving a restaurant and handing a bum their take home bag. The fast food along the promenade offers quite a bit of left over food in the trashcans.

Then there are the established homeless services, non-profits etc that attract homeless from all over.

Just because rents are high doesn't mean the homeless problem will be any less... Reason why? Well, you know the reason...

Wouldn't it be easier just to start an online porn business like everyone else?

There has been a reduction of SM's homeless problem, mainly by the SMPD kicking out many of the homeless and pushing them into Venice (and to a lesser extent into other parts of the westside)

This has created EXTREMELY serious problems in Venice with rising crime as a result of more homeless IN ADDITION to Venice's already existing homeless problems which were quite severe.

I wish the SMPD would stop pushing their homeless into West L.A.
