That's a nice way to talk about people....

Oh puhhleez. Until you've lived here as long as we have, you have no idea. These unemployable types will do anything for money. ANYTHING. That includes prostitution, drug dealing, mugging, burglary, homicide......
As if these things don't go on in other places.....

I've lived in the Palmdale for 17 yrs. and wouldn't live anywhere esle. Plus if you lived in Palmdale you would have no commute. Palmdale has all the ammenities of a big city without all the congestion. House prices are great right now for the buyer. You can get a mansion for 250,000. Stay on the west side of Palmdale, west of 30th street west and you'll be fine.

but their are places that your money will go far, and you will have a great home in a resort like atmosphere;

another just point there was a handsome white male at the court house who moved from palmdale and came back because there was a traffic ticket to a hell bound judge who didn't care the man had a job and life treated him second rate, needless to say before the judge was being and ass i looked at him as a man then i looked at him again as having one foot in the grave and he became older and decrepated right in front of me.... they are hard, but thats only if you meet this end....

I've heard Palmdale, and it's twin Lancaster, refered to as a cesspool from long time residents. Both cities rank in the top 3 or 4 for ca for murders and rapes. Are there any decent towns within a reasonable commute to live in around the area?
Acton is clean and white, if you can afford it, and only 10 minutes from Palmdale. Otherwise, West Palmdale isn't too bad and the schools are okay. If you are looking for something more rural, there are areas west of Palmdale and Lancaster that are affordable. There are also areas to the east, but the schools are horrible.

I have lived in Lancaster, Palmdale and Santa Clarita. I would not want to do a SC to EAFB commute. It took me 45+ to go SC to Lancaster. Depending where on base you are going it could be 1.5 hrs.

>>>'Resort like atmosphere'???? Really??? Please let me know where to find it because I've been here 16 years and I have yet to find it. Unless 'windy' and 'dusty' qualifies. Potemkin village more like.

How is Ca's state income tax? Also, I've heard reference to "waite until you go to the DMV to register you vehical" is it really that bad? Is it more than 50 dollars?

It's kind of ashame; I've got a good offer, but the area sounds so bad and with all of the state of Ca's money problems I don't know if I want to live there.
I have recently received a job offer in palmdale and will be moving in early january. I would realy like your impressions and any advice you have for me. Please get back to me.

Santa Clarita and Acton are good suggestions, but you may also want to check out Leona Valley, Lake Hughes, Lake Elizabeth and Green Valley. They are all nice bedroom communities outside of Palmdale/Lancaster. Much more rural/smaller than Santa Clarita, but the commute would be shorter and housing prices are cheaper.
