Hi, I was wondering if the "red line" is safe to ride at night. I will be staying downtown and want to go to Hollywood/Highland area. I'll be riding over to Hollywood/Highland during the day, but returning downtown at night. Also, is there public transport from downtown to Bev Hills? Would it better to take a cab? And, if so, what does a cab ride cost from downtown to Beverly Hills? Thanks in advance for your help.

You can rent a car for cheap.

Ok, so is it safe or not? Renting a car is not the problem but parking is, and I'd rather not drive while I'm there. Just curious about the 'red line' and whether it is safe to ride. Anyone?

i've taken the red line from union station to the end of the line several times at night. And i have to say that i feel safer at night, then during the day. There's practically no one around except a few metro cops and a few people who are getting out of bars. Which is only like 5-20 people on the entire train.
There is a bus 720 that goes from somewhere near montebello to santa monica and there is one that goes from downtown to beverlly hills, but i don't know which number that is. |

Nothing personal, artichoke63, you just meant to be helpful, but I can't resist a comment here. I often get this answer -- which makes a lot of assumptions -- whenever I ask about public transportation. The assumptions range from "oh, you're poor" to "oh, you lost your license" to "oh, how pitiful for you."
![]() Astonishingly, some of us find driving and parking a hassle and prefer to avoid it by taking the bus or train. We like it even more when we see how much money we saved. We like it more still when we find that driving is not much faster than bus/train in a city like LA! ![]() Sorry, sammom02, I can't offer anything on Red Line safety at night. Please excuse the diversion. Now back to your quest for answers. ![]() |
