Burbank Duplex (Glendale, August: hardwood floors, apartment complex, lease)

I will be relocating to the Burbank area around August of 2012. I was initially thinking apartment complex, but the thought of getting stuck in such close proximity to so many people means the chances of having annoying neighbors(for whatever reasons) increases exponentially. I'm thinking a duplex is the way to go, even if I pay more for the privilege. i hope to keep within the 1600-1700 range. Can anybody comment on the availability, quality and general cost of such apartments? I've visited Burbank often and it seems like there are plenty around. I'm hoping thats the case. My preference would be to be in the Magnolia Park area or down to the Bob's Big Boy area.

I live in a (pretty small. I would say somewhere between 600 - 800 sq ft) 2 bedroom triplex in Burbank. I'm on the end so I have only one common-wall neighbor. I pay $1675/mo, so it's definitely do-able. I've been told (by various people) that I pay too much in rent, but I do have my own (concrete) back yard, my landlord accepted my 2 cats & a dog, there are hardwood floors, & I'm on a month-to-month (most landlords want a year's lease).

So, I bet you can find a duplex or triplex for cheaper.

All your reasoning and facts are about correct. I see no reason why you can't find that, but if you can't, theres also lots of similiar type units in Glendale, Studio City, and Valley Village.

How did you come across your apartment? Craigslist? Realtor? Just walking around and looking for vacancy signs?
