all that for 3% which seems pretty reasonable consider how long they have gone without a increase. This is inflation at works...

I would stay where you are, unless you have some fantastic job offer someplace else. The same problems are happening all over the country. Even the areas that seem to have job growth right now are having financial challenges and budget cuts. There is no place in the country that has schools that have not been deeply affected by the recession.

If you stay in LA, you have family nearby. You (and your kids) have an established network of friends and contacts. You know where to shop to get the best bargains. You have relatively mild weather, so your utility bills are much less than in other parts of the country. You may not appreciate those things right now, but all you have to do is read the other city forums to realize those are the things people gripe and gripe and gripe about after they move to a new city and no longer have them.

Every single forum has a dozen threads started by people who moved to that town and now complain it's hard to make new friends or find a job in a new city. IMO, right now most people are smarter to just stay where they are and weather the storm. You may not be as well off as people were a decade ago but you're still better off than most people in this world.

Things are looking grim for future US generations in general, but LA definatly seems to have one of the better job markets (at least in my line of work). I think housing prices are still out of hand though.

At this point, I am thinking that sticking through it may be best being that all of my family is close by. Everyone seems to share the opinion that the rest of the country is screwed up as well.

Air quality?
Actually, the air quality, overall, is better in LA now than it was in the '70s and '80s.
Going by the number of smog alerts each year.

Get out of the country? And go where? Socialist Europe with higher unemployment rates than USA or Communist China.. maybe you could get a job with the drug cartels down in South America. There's always India.. This whole world is rough, but we'll get through it, we just have to realize we were all living well above our means and you just can't do that.

Correct The off-shore banking cartel has high jacked this country. Having a child right now is a terrible idea because they will have no future. They will be implanted with microchips (like dogs) and be slaves to the homeland. I certainly would not want to bring in a child into the coming one world government currently being set up.
