Default L.A. or ATL. ? For R & B / Pop, Hip Hop Music.

Hello, I'm a musician, composer and music producer. My primary music and market is mainstream r & b/pop and hip hop, my focus will be writing and recording with artist in the studio and getting music published. I'm planning to move to either Los Angeles or Atlanta to establish myself in the music industry. Which city do you feel will be the most beneficial, productive and provide the most opportunity?

I guess if your looking to get into the R&B/Hip hop game, going to Atlanta will help because much of the music is coming from their, but the music industry is based in either LA or NYC so moving to LA could help you hook up with the big figures in production and management also many more talent scouts are probable to be in LA because its a bigger city and many more people go their to follow a music career. Both cities have their advantages so you can't go wrong with either from a music standpoint

Ditto what Western87 said. Both cities are good.

LA has more musical diversity though, so you can hear a lot of different types of music around town -- and cheaply too. If you can get a copy of LAWeekly (I think you might be able to find it online) you can get an idea of all the concerts/music available in LA.

You should try ATL and then move on to LA if nothing is popping within a year. If I were in your shoes, I would go to LA. Only because there are more interesting things to do and see and ATL is too slow paced for me. But that's me. Your you and you need to do what's in the best interest of you.
