Summer concerts (some free, some not)
Among other things, L.A. is great for free outdoor concerts.
Here are the ones I know about so far:
Santa Monica Pier - Free concerts at 7:30 every Thursday beginning June 28th at 7:30 on the West Parking Deck.
Twilight Dance Series 2007
Universal City Walk - Summer Block Party begins on June 28th and goes through August, with free concerts every Friday night with The Spazmatics, an 80s cover band, hosted by DJ Richard Blade, beginning at 7:30 p.m.

Warner Center Park, Woodland Hills - Concerts in the Park are presented free, each Sunday, June through Labor Day weekend, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Lou Bredlow Pavilion. Many different artists.
Valley Cultural Center - Concerts - Concerts in the Park - June 2007
Concerts in the Park, Valencia - They have free concerts every Saturday at 7:00 p.m. from July 7th through August 25th, with various bands, in Central Park.
