Default Clock is ticking...

Just wanted to thank everyone that responded so far, I've narrowed down my search to about 9 places in Metairie and River Ridge. If anyone else has any last minute thoughts, I'd still be glad to hear it.

Right now, I'm comparing the places based on location, and cost/sq ft.. Also looking at amenities (but most places seem to have about the same.) Thanks again.

Default By the Way

The places I'm looking at are...

brittany house (metairie) Edinborn st Couple blocks from Lakeside mall
fox run - Cleary (I think) blvd by I-10 (metairie)
le maison - Houma blvd by I-10 (metairie)
windmill creek - on N. side of I-10 opposite of Lafreniere park (metairie)
wildflower - house type apt on N. side of Lafreniere park (metairie)
sawmill creek, walnut creek, willow creek, hickory creek (all in River Ridge)

If anybody has input about these places, I'd love to hear it.. Thanks!!!

No, Harahan and River Ridge are NOT rural! There's not much that's rural left on the south shore. Metairie is crowded and wasn't planned very well. It's tough to find an actual subdivision. Unfortunately, the crime is starting to get bad around there too. Get a realtor, tell them what you're looking for and have them show you some places! Good luck!

Actually Doogie... yes. The management company that owns/runs most of the places I was looking at requires things I can't supply. I cannot supply my last two pay stubs (since I have been in Grad School for 4 years and am coming to NOLA to begin my new career), and I cannot show a bank statement showing that I have 12 times the monthly rent amount in the bank (Um, cuz I've been a college student and haven't started working yet... DUH!). So I am going with a place that simply allowed me to supply a letter from the company I was going to be giving coverage to (not an employee to, I am technically self employed) stating projected income. To protect the innocent, I won't name it publicly, but once established in the area, I may still decide to go with a different complex. But, who knows, I may stay with where I will initially be at. There's a lot of sq. footage, (costs a bit under a grand per month - still more than I want to pay, but beggars can't be choosers), and decent amenities, so it should be a good place to land, and we'll see where we go from there.

Thanks to everybody for their help, and if you still have anything to add, I'm still listening... Thanks again!!! STEVE

I'm definitely a cityboy, so nothing too rural please! Any suggestions???

By the way, I'm initially just looking to rent, not house shopping at this point - so please fill me in on any nice apartment complexes (especially in Metairie). Thanks! Steve
Not sure if u still need a place to rent...or where u will be working. In Houma, I know of a very nice place approx 1 min from TGMC and 5 mins from Chabert.....
