Default CFL Pirates, Shreveport only major pro team

Do you all remember the Shreveport Pirates? they were a major pro football team that played their games at Independence Stadium. They lasted from 1994-95, they made the playoffs, but they had some great fans(especially Jimmy Swaggart). But what I want to know is why they folded, why football fans avoided the Pirates, I understand that they understand NFL and College Football, but didnt the citizens wanted a major pro franchise in their city? didnt they want to be on the major pro map? I dont know if you Shreveport fans know, but there is one player Joe Montford who is listed on TSN's
(Canada's version of ESPN) Top 50 players of all time, hes won the CFL's Defensive player of the year 3 times after the Pirates folder. There is DE Joe Fuller who made the 1994 CFL East All Stars. If the fans only supported the Pirates more, then Shreveport would have still been a Major League city, but wasted too much time watching NFL and College when the city doesnt have a college program or no NFL franchise.

While this is late, FWIW...the biggest reason the CFL Pirates folded was because of their owners Bernie Gleibermann and his son. They had a history of poor management here and elsewhere after they left. But S'port is a tough market anyway and football in the middle of the summer makes about as much sense as holding a bikini contest in the Artic Circle.
