It's a great place to live. It is rural farm and ranch country. I lived in Natchitoches for 20 years. I would definitely go back if I could. Very laid back atmosphere. Kitsachie National Forest is nearby. Lots of rivers and lakes. Cane River Lake is fabulous.
Employment depends on your background. There is a local university. Conagra plant. Several manufacturing companies. Outside of Natchitoches, there is mostly just farming. Provencal is actually close enough to Alexandria to commute. Several locals work in Alexandria. salaries are normally a little below average. You substitute a laid back atmosphere for salary.
It all depends on your lifestyle and background. Natchitoches schools are good. Crime is low. Life is good there.
