It's not quite as bad as when a Starbucks locates inside another Starbucks...
Lol, now that is just awful.

It was a funny comment, though.

Not that I'm a coffee drinker, but does Lafayette have a Starbucks?

There are six in Lafayette plus one in New Iberia. One of these days I may give them a try, but the tried and true office coffee maker has served me well for decades. And it's free!

I like coffee, but I'm more of a tea person. Lafayette's definitely got it's share of starbucks, not to mention Barnes and Noble bookstore which also serves starbucks products. I don't care for their coffee, it's always so bitter. I'd rather support the local guys, they have much better coffee and much better food

I wish they scare away Walmart and Target.

Target is ok. I wouldn't mind a Lafayette with no WalMart though.

Well up here, Shreveport still has K-Mart going strong, and Academy replaced it here in West Monroe along with a bayou bistro.

Whole Foods is a negative to me... I live in a city smaller than Lafayette that has two of them. Here in Santa Fe, the Whole Foods parking lots are full of Toyota Prius' owned by far left loons.

The last time I was in one I was given a hard time in line by an employee and two customers for not brining my own recyclable shopping bags. In my experience that place is full of complete douches that pay ridiculous prices for ridiculous things because they think they're saving the world by shopping there. Maybe that's just unique to the stores in New Mexico, but I kind of doubt it. I'd just assume not have one of those stores or the people they attract anywhere near me... there's nothing wrong with Super WalMart and Kroger as far as I'm concerned.

I don't think they're in Louisiana yet, but back home in CA and here in NM, if I need an "alternative" grocery store, Trader Joe's is definitely the way to go. They have plenty of unique and healthy stuff. Plus, the customers and employees are much more mellow and way less pretentious.
