Hi,

I am flying to New Orleans next Monday and will fly back to Europe on Oct 27. This is my first time in US and I have been waiting for this since....

This means that I have 10 full days to visit. (minus 1 since I intend to stay in New Orleans on Tuesday to visit).
I read some travel books about Louisiana, Mississippi,... but nothing really replaces "actual" experience and hints.
That's why I post this.

What would you suggest me to do, to see, to go, not to miss... knowing I'd love to discover and see as much as possible within these 9 remaining days, and driving does not afraid me at all !

I thought about Laura Plantation, a Swamp tour, I read about the possibility to sleep on top of a tree... I really enjoy country music.

Last things, I will travel with my wife and my 4-year old boy. Both are used to travel a lot... and I am not limited to Louisiana but would find it sad not to see some other states as well...

In advance many thanks

Head west a couple hours and visit the Lafayette/Acadiana region too. You will miss out on a large part of Southern Louisiana culture if you do not.

Explore all of New Orleans, not only downtown. Take Hwy 90 towards Lafayette, go through to St. Francisville and on up to Natchez, and go down and drive the Mississippi coast back to New Orleans.

Too bad you don't have enough time, or I'd say come on out to Texas too, and hit up San Antonio!

I definitely agree though that you've GOTTA visit Lafayette, LA. I know that Festivals Acadiens et Creoles is going on some time this month, so you might be able to time it to where you're there during that. There's a lot of culture and great food in that area!
