Pineville/Alexandria
Hi,
I am new to the Pineville, LA area. We moved from the Hammond/Albany, LA area.
Can anyone tell me about it?
It is just my husband and I. He is currently the State Chaplain Recruiter for the LA. National Guard. I am an Independent Nondenominational Wedding and Funeral Minister, though I struggle with Fibromyalgia, and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, so currently I am not looking for fulltime work.
Does anyone know about art and culture and doctors in this area?
Thanks,
Rev. Claire

Pineville is, for the most part, safe, clean, heavily wooded, and hilly. Most restaurants, shopping centers, and entertainment are located in Alexandria. Alexandria has excellent healthcare for a city its size. There are two major hospitals: Christus St. Frances Cabrini and Rapides Regional. Both of these hospitals are in the process of expanding. Downtown Alexandria has a few museums and a performing arts center, although there is really not that much to do downtown. Pineville has Louisiana College, a small, Baptist liberal arts college, which may provide some cultural activities.

Your cultural events include plays and musical events sponsored by Louisiana College, LSU-Alexandria, and the Coughlin-Sanders Performing Arts Center. There will be a 12 nights of Christmas event coming up, so watch the newspaper at The Town Talk - www.thetowntalk.com - Alexandria-Pineville, Louisiana for schedules. This will include a performance of Handel's Messiah at Guinn Auditorium on the Louisiana College campus with former first lady Barbara Bush reading the Christmas story. It is a ticket-only event as space is limited. There is a museum of art downtown, which in the past included The Heart of Spain exhibit, but nothing major recently.
As to doctors, there are a number of excellent doctors. It is a matter of what specialty you need. The Rapides Parish Medical Society should be able to provide guidance, but word of mouth from friends and neighbors is usually best.
