Hello! I am Julia and 17 years old. I really hate England. I hate driving on the left, the weather, the people. I just hate it. I want to move to the USA as soon as is legally possible. I am not interested in going there illegally, so don't bother saying anything like "go on a plane and don't ever leave".

I was thinking of Louisiana as a possible state that I could go to. I would like some information on the general cost of living in Louisiana, and any other states if possible. E.G. Gasoline prices, rental prices for different types of housing, gas/electric/water prices, car insurance/medical insurance, and anything else you can think of.

Thanksssss xxxxx

Most of the costs associated with living here are average to below average for the Us, however the price of car insurance is way above average. In fact, it is the highest in the country. Before you get too worried though, the cost is usually somewhere around 100-150 bucks/month, which is still not too awful all things considered. Gasoline prices are actually about average too, despite this being a heavily energy producing state. If you can deal with the very warm climate and humidity, as well as the more laid back nature of this state, then you will certainly enjoy it. The food, music, people, and festivals make it worth staying.

Have you considered the immigration process? Do you have relatives in the US? It's not easy to just immigrate to the US, you typically need to have a job here first, a fiance, a business concern or family who can support you.

Check the US Immigration site before you go any further: USCIS Home Page

British Expats is also another great resource for Brits wanting to move abroad: British Expatriate Community : British Expat Community

I do sympathise, I moved from England to the States in 1999, and I have no regrets. Good luck!

It is a serious decision. Are you sure that mentioned above problems are enough to change your country?

Maybe try to travel to the USA for work in summer? check if you like it there and then decide
