In a Louisiana public school, female students who are suspected of being pregnant are told that they must take a pregnancy test. Under school policy, those who are pregnant or refuse to take the test are kicked out and forced to undergo home schooling.

Welcome to Delhi Charter School, in Delhi, Louisiana, a school of 600 students that does not believe its female students have a right to education free from discrimination. According to its Student Pregnancy Policy, the school has a right to not only force testing upon girls, but to send them to a physician of the school administration’s choice. A positive test result, or failure to take the test at all, means administrators can forbid a girl from taking classes and force her to pursue a course of home study if she wishes to continue her education with the school.

This is in blatant violation of federal law and the U.S. Constitution.
Full story

I dont get their logic. FIrst dont teach sex education or allow contraceptives. If someone does get pregnant they cannot have an abortion. They are also denied education. They also shouldnt expect any government existence. Now everyone gets to criticize the mom for being a bad mother. When the kid grows up with problems it is their fault.

So stupid.

Seems to be the wave of the future. Republicans in Congress have bills that would limit when women can get abortions, limit access to contraceptives, etc. This is scary stuff. I hope the female students launch a class action suit.

Constitutional rights do not apply behind school doors, no matter what anyone says. This invasion of privacy is just another small, unsurprising example of that.

By denying education? Good job crippling our youth.
If I did pray, it would be for you and like-minded people.

Charter schools get to make their own rules. No one is being denied an education, the students can go to their assigned public school.

Doesn't make the requirement any less stupid.

Your argument is flawed. They could always go to the public schools and get no real education. And the good news for you is that your daughter can then learn all about having sex before marriage, using condoms, etc.

I have an idea, but it is a bit radical. For those that are pro-choice, why not have the baby transferred to a vat of synthetic amniotic fluids where they can continue to grow and develop? Once maturity is reached, they can be adopted by loving families.

It would appease pro-life advocates such as my self, as there would be little to no loss of life in the process. On the other hand, while still allowing the pro-life people to choose to stay pregnant or abort, they could be free of guilt from blood.

It wouldn't be perfect, but at least it would be better.
