Shreveport, Remember When...
The San Antonio TX Forum has a thread, around 1900 replies, about places no longer there. As I grew up in Shreveport & moved away 20 something years ago, I am amazed @ how Shreveport has changed (Still have family there).
Remember the old drive-inn theator on Mansfield Rd @ 70th street? The huge hole in the ground on Mansfield Rd. around Jewella? Everyone that worked @ Western Electric or knew someone who worked there?
Just want to see if this thread will get the great response like the one in San Antonio.

I am surprised more have not posted. I still can taste those Hash Browns from the Tic-Toc Grill once in Shreveport.

How about Unc's Newstand by the Texas Street Bridge, he sold adult magazines and racing forms there. Don't ask me how I know.
Wiseman's Restaurant on Kings Highway, great chicken and catfish buffet.
Shreve Square in the 1970s and early 1980s.
Casten's on North Market.
Brittain's Pawn Shop downtown.
A drive-in theater on Monkhouse and I-20, can't remember the name.

That drive in was named Showtown. Gosh, sometimes I wish there were still drive-ins. Bring back a lot of memories.
There was also another newstand around Lousiaina ave near Milam called Goodman news I think.
Now with all the businesses gone downtown, there is literally nothing down there outside of offices for blocks.
