I want to buy a used car (paying cash) in Louisiana for my sister who lives in Texas, who is in desperate need of a car. I want to drive up to her front door and surprise her with it. How do I negotiate the title? Can I leave the buyer's name unsigned (if the seller permits) so that my sister can sign her name on the title?
Or do I have to sign my name to get it insured for the trip to Texas? Then how do I sign it over to my sister?
Any suggestions?

Either way, you should use a Title Company as part of buying the car. Ask them your questions since they are experts at handling these matters.

All you need is a bill of sale from the seller plus the clear title. Getting the car to your sister is another matter.
You can drive the car without tags or registration uninsured back to Texas, but that's a huge risk.
If you have the VIN you can call your insurance agent and they will cover you and offer advice.
You could tow it or have it towed and that would be legal. Be smart and safe.
Put a big bow on the roof, then go with your sister to the Texas DMV and make it all legal.
