There are a few exceptions to the rule that Alexandria within MacArthur Drive is predominately black. The Garden District area as well as neighborhoods along Texas Avenue (except those between Monroe St. and Rapides Avenue) are mostly white. There are some parts of Alexandria outside of MacArthur Drive that are heavily black as well such as neighborhoods along Highway 1 north of MacArthur Drive. Portions of South Alexandria east of Masonic Drive, such as Deerfield and Martin Park subdivisions are becoming predominately black. The rest of Alexandria outside of MacArthur Drive is mostly white.
Pineville and other areas north of the Red River from Alexandria are mostly white, although the older sections of Pineville have a significant population of both blacks and Vietnamese people.
Yes, small towns along and near the Red River are mostly black.
West and southwest Rapides Parish, which is covered by Kisatchie National Forest, is dominated by whites. However, the Forest Hill area has a high population of Mexicans, who are employed in the forest nursery industry
