What cell phone service to get???
I'm moving from California back to Louisiana (finally) and I need to get a cell phone. Which service will get the best reception in Allen, Beauregard, Rapides and Vernon parish areas?? If you live in one of those parishes, what service do you use, and what do like or not about it?? Any help would be great. Thank you, Mike

When my husband was working up in that area we talked all the time with clear signals and no problems.
We have Sprint.

Really? Is that since Rita? I heard some cell towers were lost and a lot of sprint customers as well as other companies customers have trouble getting good signals. Especially out of town. Thanks, Mike

I could not vouch for quality of any networks in the area, but with the limited help in the thread and for what it's worth, I looked up the available providers with an Alexandria zip code, 71301, and if you live in one of the other parishes the options may change, but it looks like there's 4 options. Alltel, Centennial, at&t, and Sprint.
If you do much traveling though, Centennial may not be a good option because they're a local provider.

Thank you. I finally found some people who live in DeRidder and found our best bet is to get AT&T until we get there. When we get there it seems Centennial is the way to go. I heard some horror stories about the others. Fine if you live in town, but leave and you get nothing. Thank you. Mike

Er, I know people in Alexandria who have either had great or "from hell" experiences with Centennial. Plus, they're not a national company.
