Jindal's actions are straight out the President Ronald Reagan Republican Play Book.
Reagan did all he could to kill funding for higher education. Reagan's belief is there should be no State or Federal funding for Higher Education. Jindal just found another way to aspire to that same premise.

It's Insane to cut any program by 80% its an atrocity to cut Education by even 5%, when We As A Nation Rank 27th, in Global Educations.

Louisiana probably ranks among the lower levels when it comes to Education and Education Offerings. He has done everything he could to dismantle the LSU system, People need to wake up and stand up and grasp what this man is doing and what he has done. He never should have been Governor, and the people of Louisiana should not be so complacant to allow him to do what he has done. He knows people of this state are lacidasical when it comes to addressing anything. He has set out to dismantle, set back and make difficult anything and everything which has any part in benefitting the citizens of this state.

We sit silent and seemingly unaware, as the privitize anything he can, set up insurance companies to gouge how ever they want, and close down what ever he things has any social benefit of helping and being available for the people.
BP spent a lot of money in the state, where did the expenditure and tax generated by that expenditure go.
When Hansville Shale was generation money, where did that tax generated income go?

We probably have many questions, maybe if some of them were answered, we might even see a governor standing trail for a long list of wrongs.

Either way, the damage done to the state by his ineptitude is purely astounding.

So President Reagan cut funding to LSU? I assume you are old enough to remember it, or is this a liberal talking point, aka nonsense?

I did not say Reagan cut anything for LSU. The point was Reagan and his agenda to cut funding for State Colleges and Universities when he was Governor of California".
"As in California, Mr. Reagan also made drastic cuts in the federal education budget. Over his eight years in office he diminished it by half. When he was elected the federal share of total education spending was 12%. When he left office it stood at just 6%."

The relative point was related to the actions of Jindal in the Capacity as Governor; in this regard Jindal is following the Reagan programming as in pushing for the Republican Ideology- Cut Funding for Education.

Quote:
Once elected, (As Governor) Mr. Reagan set the educational tone for his administration by:
a. calling for an end to free tuition for state college and university students,
b. annually demanding 20% across-the-board cuts in higher education funding,
c. repeatedly slashing construction funds for state campuses
d. engineering the firing of Clark Kerr, the popular President of the University of California, and
e. declaring that the state "should not subsidize intellectual curiosity

Quote:

Governor Reagan not only slashed spending on higher education. Throughout his tenure as governor Mr. Reagan consistently and effectively opposed additional funding for basic education. This led to painful increases in local taxes and the deterioration of California's public schools. Los Angeles voters got so fed up picking up the slack that on five separate occasions they refused to support any further increases in local school taxes. The consequent under-funding resulted in overcrowded classrooms, ancient worn-out textbooks, crumbling buildings and badly demoralized teachers. Ultimately half of the Los Angeles Unified School District's teachers walked off the job to protest conditions in their schools. Mr. Reagan was unmoved.
Ronald Reagan left California public education worse than he found it. A system that had been the envy of the nation when he was elected was in decline when he left. Nevertheless, Mr. Reagan's actions had political appeal, particularly to his core conservative constituency, many of whom had no time for public education.
We find the same agenda in another Republican Governor, who wants to be the the Stand Out Republican Model.

Jerry Brown, the current California governor, wants to cut the University of California budget by $120 million.

Quote:
UC President Janet Napolitano said she was disappointed Brown did not include “sufficient revenue” for the university, but she’s hopeful future discussions will change that.
Jerry Brown
Sounds like it wasn't just Reagan and the conservative constituency cutting university budgets.

MYTH DEBUNKED

uninformed people should refrain from comments and allow silence to give question to their intellect, instead of exposing themselves of their own ignorance.
