My family and I are relocating to Hammond, Louisiana. Can you tell me about the area, work force, housing, etc.

Deannie - contact a realtor immediately to help you. Since the hurricane the housing/rental market is EXTREMELY tight. If you do succeed in finding something it won't be as cheap as it would have been 18 months ago unfortunately. Just be prepared for that okay? Hammond is a great little university town - very pretty in places with all the pine trees and old downtown area intact. It is located almost equally distant between Baton Rouge and New Orleans, in case you need to visit there for a reason or just want to sightsee. I hope you will find it to your liking
