Alexandria gator BS?
I am moving to Alexandria for 3 years.
A friend told me the surrounding area has an alligator problem, and one of the reason some house prices are so low is because gators are in the area?
True? Or is he just messing with me?

That one is news to me. Alexandria for years had a depressed economy after England AFB closed up.
If there were gators, there may be some in Kincaid Lake, but that'd be about it.

I never heard of an alligator problem either in Alexandria. Home prices have increased substantially in recent years. The depressed economy that resulted from the closure of England AFB in 1992 is over. Since the closure, the former base has been converted to Alexandria International Airport and contains a golf course, a senior citizen's housing complex, and a tank car manufacturing plant has located nearby.

Louisiana towns and cities dont really have an issue with alligators. Thats more of an Everglades thing. Aside from camp housing, there arent really that many places in the swamps that large groups of people live where they would encounter that sort of problem. Especially not Alexandria. Even Lafayette, which is a few miles from an alligator infested body of water called Lake Martin, does not have problems with alligators at all. Its very different from florida in that regard. I have been in only one town in Louisiana that had alligators everywhere alongside the highway leading up to it, and in ponds around it. I cant remember what town it was though.
