So was looking for some suggestions and came across this thread Minden and Ruston seem to be the front runners so far (Unless something has changed). I am from Detroit (Now live in the suburbs) so the crime "stats" (made up or not) seem to be a little bothersome. Looking to move into a house (probably rental for now) with 2-3 bedrooms around 1500-2500 Sq feet in a "small downtown area". I currently live here Welcome to Downtown Northville! so am looking for something with a similar feel, some resturants and bars that is not overly commercial. Sorry if this is a bit long winded but this is a BIG and LONG move for us.

Thanks in advance for helping out the new guy.
Minden is approx. 1 hour from Sherveport and Ruston is approx. 1.30 from Sherveport. Louisiana Tech is in Ruston which may help with your girlfriend finding a job or something to do.

Anyone worried about Webster Parish being dry can just travel over to Bossier or Caddo and hit the bars, as there are certainly plenty of them in Shreveport. Personally, I prefer Ruston or Minden in North Louisiana. I miss it dearly now that I'm off in San Antonio, but probably one day I'll move back to God's Country in the Piney Hills! Good luck in your search!

HOW 'BOUT THEM LATECH BULLDOGS?!!!!
