Pretty good quality for the price. Exterior is mainly brick and vinyl siding. About a half dozen house plans per development. More 2 stories than 1 stories. Double insulated windows that retract in for cleaning. Pretty generic flooring (carpet and linolium). 9 foot ceilings. Contractor grade cabinets (usually dropped 1 foot off ceiling due to 9 ft ceilings). Moen plumbing fixtures. Master bath has walk in shower and whirlpool tub. Alot of house for the money.

Mama was such a big fan of one of their floor plans that she had her house in Da Parish built very much like the Sunrise home. Just like Rajin said, I have to ditto that there is a lot of house for the money. A friend is having hers built on the North Shore and is thrilled with the progress so far.

About the only thing i remember about them was i had some friends looking at a new home by them. They said the house was not built on 16" centers. Thats probably a big deal.

If the wall studs are 2x4 and not on 16" centers, I don't believe it will pass code... so I highly doubt that's the case.
If the roof rafters are not on 16" centers it is okay as long as they are properly braced.
Not everything in a home is constructed on 16" centers, and these days every home built in Louisiana, regardless of municipality, rural area, etc, is required to be inspected by a third-party.

We've been looking at the new Sunrise houses on the Northshore, and have been curious about their quality. Pardon my ignorance of carpentry, but could you explain what 16" centers are, and their relation to quality? TIA!

Wow this thread is a year old, I forgot all about it. Just to answer your question, when someone mentions 16" centers, or 16" on-center, they are talking about the measurement from the center of one framing member (joists, rafters, studs, etc) to the center of the next one.
