(You didn't mention if you would be renting or buying or what your price range is.) Another thing you should know, while the commute is a straight shot on I-10 (in either direction), one small car accident can create an endless traffic snarl because of the lack of alternate routes. Breaux Bridge, though closer to Lafayette than BR, is an affordable option and really charming. Zydeco Breakfast at Cafe Des Amis is an experience!
