Default Houma Relocation

Hello
I am considering a relocation to Houma (I would be accepting a pre-existing job offer). I am from the inner city of Chicago and used to what outsiders would refer to as the "hood". As much as I am used to big city life, it's not like I enjoy what young people usually go to cities for- flashy nightlife, trendy restaurants, shopping, etc. (I do not live in this sort of area at ALL).
That being said, I dont care about those kinds of things, but I am still wondering what kind of adjustment it would be for me. I do not know anything about Houma so I would like to know what area to begin to look at for possible home buying/renting. I own a great dane and another large mixed breed dog, so yard space is important to me. Is it possible to rent cheaply there with two dogs included? Crime, run down neighbourhoods, etc. are not much of a concern for me. I just want the biggest possible space/land for the smallest amount of money. Im sure the crime rate everywhere down there is less or comparable to what I have every day now.
Is there an ethnic area in Houma? I would like to live in an area with a higher Hispanic population if possible. (if there is one) Other than that, I would like a mixed neighbourhood.
Finally if anyone is into horses, does anyone know where I can take proper dressage lessons there? I have been looking and cannot seem to find anything about it....
Thank you!
