I can't help with racetrack questions, but here is a link to the Delta Downs website.

Delta Downs Race Track - DeltaDownsRacing.com

As far as location, Delta Downs is north of I-10, take Exit 4 (hwy 109). Isle of Capri is south of I-10, take Exit 27 (Westlake). It's about 25 miles door-to-door via I-10 according to Google Maps.

The racing season ends in April. I believe it's from November to April as the horses can't take the heat. In the summer the racing is up north as the horses can't take the cold up north in the winter.

thanks for the answers guys: it looks like our decision is going to be; either Vegas or the Caribbean, maybe Punta Cana. There really are almost no places in the USA except NV that offer any off track betting and the racing in LA. is as you say over in April and they race only a few days a week at night. Oh well, it was a good idea and Lake Charles would have been fun for all of us.

Sorry but gotta take care of the horses ya know! In summer those horses are up north competing.

I'm wondering if horses in California can compete year round because the weather is mild there.

That being said, why don't you visit sometime between now and April and bet on a few horses!

Delta downs only has slots. It's in Vinton and Isle of Capri is in west lake, they are roughy 20 minutes apart. Not sure what the rules are regarding betting on other tracks.

would love to but the family has so many plans and when someone is treating you, ya pretty much have to go along with what works for them. One daugher is having surgery in the next month or so, the other has meeting and conferences coming out of her you know and son, well he is just another story. We have gone many years to Vegas for the KY Derby, looking for something different this time around.
