Alexandria/pineville schools
Do all the schools in Alexandria and Pineville follow the dress code of Khaki pants and white shirt? Are there any schools that allow some freedom of what someone wears?
As far as schools , which ones would anyone recommend? Bolton in Alexandria boasts decent ACT scores.

We are relocating to this area and wondering the same thing. My son currently goes to a charter high school, wear his own clothes and comes and goes like a college campus. It has been great for his maturity and self government. I hesitate to put him in a situation where he backtracks, but see no choice. We are going out next week to look at Pineville, Alexandria and DeRidder. I am very confused about these schools..............

Rapides Parish Schools do allow some freedom beyond just khaki pants and a white shirt from what I am aware of. Here is the website for Rapides Parish schools where you might be able to find more information. Rapides Parish School District
In Alexandria and Pineville, the public schools that I would most recommend are Alexandria Senior High, Bolton High, and Pineville High. Also, Holy Savior Menard is a good Catholic High School.

I cannot afford the private schools. Bolton seems to have the highest ACT scores - well above the national average.
We are really well pleased with my childrens high schools now. My son (11th grade) and daughter (9th grade) both have taken college AP courses already. There is a freedome of dress code, and we feel a good blend of freedom and responsibility. I almost worry the strict dress code will squash them a bit, like its an effort to make everyone blend into the herd - no highs, no lows, just a homogeneous blend of middle.

The best public elementary schools in Alexandria seem to be Cherokee Elementary, Nachman Elementary, and Phoenix Magnet. In Pineville, JI Barron is most likely your best choice for elementary.

I'm so nervous about moving kids from a grade "A" school to Alex schools. I would like to do as much research as possible before deciding on a location to live based on schools in the district. Please help!

I'd try to get them in at Tioga schools in Pineville. They do have a uniform policy in place, but they have really excellent test scores and a good reputation.
