Default Bastrop are you growing these days?

How is the future looking for your community these days? How's your real estate market? Is the economy growing for Bastrop?

I do weekly business up in Bastrop. The future may be brighter than before as the highway to Crossett US425 is being 4 laned to the state line. That is good news. IP is still in operation and hope it stays that way. Real estate is ok, not booming, but there are some new developments and a Wal-Mart superstore opened last year on 165 going towards Mer Rouge. Crime still a major concern, although it is by far safer than Monroe. All in all I think its a nice town with good people.

My family move from Bastrop in 1980. I still have a few relatives there. They love it and will never leave. I can't stand the smell of the mill. The last time I was there was in FEB 08 and it almost made me puck.

Well the mill has closed, the Wal-Mart development is halfway complete. There is still a vacant building in the first phase of the adjacent shopping center. The second phase of the second shopping center has yet to be built and the remainder of the development that has four pad sites for restaurants have yet to be develop. However, the good news is that the city has a new mayor and the Guild plant in Monroe will house a new automobile manufacturing plant and will employee 1500 people at average 40K yearly. In addition, this does not include supplier who may move to the area in/or around Bastrop to be near to the plant. Who knows...but I have faith in Bastrop.

More information on this development: www.sandordev.com go to property for lease -> Louisiana -> Bastrop
