I've literally been walking around the town on the streets, hence my name, for a very long time now trying to find someone who would hire me but nobody wants to. What gives? Why don't any of you want to hire me?

This is very frustrating, Mandeville, and I'm about to get kicked out by my father because I am incapable of finding a job despite trying my hardest.

Do you mind explaining to me, Mandeville, why you don't want to hire me? I'm at a loss here. And yes I'm asking the whole city this question.
I'm hiring qualified people for various task. Call or come see me, John T. Allen, 287 Oakwood Drive, Mandeville, LA 70448. PH: 800-335-0639.

I don't want to bother with a job, can y'all just send me money instead? Thank you.

PS - Kudos to the OP for thinking outside the box and trying something like posting here. But you probably need to consider relocating to where there are better opportunities.

OP, I wouldn't give up. Keep trying. It can take 6+ months to find a job.

You could also find a job near where you want, maybe not exactly there. Then transfer?

I realize this thread is a bit old, and hope OP found the job of his dreams!

Really just wanted to point out that there's nothing wrong with re-applying at places you've where you've previously applied.

I've gotten jobs just by buggin' the heck out of people! I'm a hard worker, excellent work ethic, but when I was young it was a bit difficult to find a job. I had no experience, no education beyond HS.

Another point that should be made to job seekers: Don't just apply and wait to hear form them. CALL THEM EVERY DAY (or at least every other day) to inquire if the position has been filled.

When they finally say yes it's filled, or you get the letter saying sorry, we can't use you at this time, watch for new openings there & re-apply.

Trade schools are a great option if you don't want (or can't) go to University. Actually, in today's environment I'd say trade schools are the best option for the jobs of the future. Just pick something you'd enjoy doing, and something other people need to have done for them.

There are short programs at Community Colleges that offer excellent career opportunities: RN, surgical tech, pharmacy tech, physical therapy tech, and many more. I just woke up, work in medical field, so those are the only programs I can think of at the moment. lol But there are many, in diverse fields.
There are grants, loans, and scholarships available at Community Colleges - just like at Universities.

I've gone University and CC, and I can tell you the education is better at CC for many people, simply because it's streamlined - focusing on your future job and not on the philosophy of Marcus Aurelius or the poems of Emily Dickinson. You can do that in your spare time, if that's interest to you. Those are two of my interests so...bedtime reading! But my best education came from CC.

Never quit without notice, don't call in if you can possibly avoid it and for heaven's sake don't make a habit of it. Plan your days off in advance. Leave a job with a good record and if you can't, like if you somehow stumbled into a horrible work environment, all I can say is get out as quickly as you can and there's a chance you won't even have to mention that place on your resume if you weren't there very long.

Never talk bad about a previous place of employment OR the supervisors there - if you do, the new company or supervisor who's interviewing you, will expect you to talk bad about them too. Find a neutral, bland reason for leaving - be creative! Things like "I enjoyed the job, but there was no room for growth/advancement" or "it wasn't a challenge." But don't trash-talk your former employer. Period.

Show up well-groomed. Clean, fresh, iron your clothes. Smile, make eye contact, think about your answers before you speak. Plan ahead of time for 'sticky' questions they may ask - see above, about not trash-talking former jobs.

Good luck out there!
