Gotta love Chalmatians. Can't say that I've never heard actual canadian accents down here. I've never heard "Aboot" or "Hey/Eh". The few people that actually speak fluent French can typically understand and speak good English as well (perhaps with a heavy accent).Most of the people sound like typical southerners. And the further out you get away from the major cities, especially down the bayou, the accents get extremely heavy.

The Cajuns do speak French but English also. Some New Orleanians have accents that sound like New York city and then there are the folks from Chalmette that have a sound all their own. Most all sound like the Southerners we are and yes we say ya'll.
Actually, I meant to say that they sound like they are from New York, not Canada.
