I am getting married in a few months and moving to New Orleans from Florida..My fiance lived there for 10 years and he loved it so much, so I went on vacation last year to check it out and meet the family..I was IN -LOVE!!! I own a home here and plan to rent for starters when we get out there. Does any one have any advice for me as far as schools elementary, jr. high for my kids, and neighborhood advice?? Any info would be most helpful.. thanks

Most of the good neighborhoods are on the West side of the Intracoastal waterway. I would stay away from any of the newer developments south of Houma far down Grand Caillou Road (Ashland, Presquile, etc.) as these are pretty vulnerable to storm surge.

Houma got flooded today with the rains over the past two days. Check out the Houma Courier website for the areas that got hit. You gotta feel for these folks-if its not the hurricanes it's these big rain events.
