Default Good and bad neighborhoods in LaPlace?

Hi,

I will be relocating to the NO area in the near future, and I'm trying to figure out where to live. I am considering LaPlace but don't know which areas are safe and which aren't. Also considering Kenner.

I have seen ads for housing I could afford in the Belle Point, Sugar Ridge, Cambridge, New Era, Carrollwood and Riverlands subdivisions -- is anybody familar with these? Or can anybody suggest some good neighborhoods, subdivisions or apartment complexes to look at?

FYI, I am female, married, with a 2-year-old. I am open to either renting or buying.

THanks!
