We are considering locating to Northern Louisiana, possibly the Shreeveport/Greenwood area. Can anyone tell me which areas are safe and have good schools? Also, a friend of mine mentioned Vivian (Shades of the Devine Sisters, etc.). Does anyone have any familiarity with this area? Any and all information would be helpful. Thank you so much!
Ruthy

Vivian is a very dirty, rough town. It has a major drug-related crime problem for a town with only a couple thousand people. Your best bets would be any of the following: a nicer area of Shreveport, Bossier City, Greenwood, Stonewall, Benton, or Haughton if you want a decent area.

Thank you so much for your information. It is really difficult when you are flying blind, so to speak. I would prefer to get in a smaller area, that is nice and safe, but with ready access to a large metropolitan area with all its amenities. I am not familiar with the Shreveport area, except when I have driven through it on one of our many cross-country sojourns. Do you have any information on Elm Grove? I look at real estate listings in the Shreveport/Bossier area, and some of the properties look very nice, but again, it is difficult to know what the area is really like. Again, you input is very much appreciated.
Sincerely,
Ruthy
