Hello out there....
I'm from the Bay Area and i've been offered a job at a recording studio in Baton Rouge, it's good pay and i'm married so i'm tempted to go out there.
What do you guys think?
Is it even worth me flying out there? [What parts of town should I check out?]
I'm very open to the louisiana culture....
Thanks.

I actually like Baton Rouge. DOn't live there, or know much about the best areas to live in, but like any city, there will be good and bad neighborhoods. From my experience, it's one of the easier large cities to drive in and navigate. Lots of shopping, good food. A little crowded since Katrina, but ehhh, not too bad. May be a change of pace for you, don't know what like is like in the Bay area lol.

I am sure someone more informative will come along.

If you're into arts/music, I'd stay around the LSU area. There are houses/apartments in an area roughly bounded by Government St on the North, Park Blvd/Dalrymple on the west, and Foster Dr/College/Lee that would have people living there more to your liking.

The downtown area is also up and coming.

Word of advice: if you had kids, you'd need to live elsewhere because the East Baton Rouge Parish school system (what's left of it) has problems.

Thanks a bunch for the information....
It really has helped.
My wife is canadian, I hope the differences won't cut our stay short in louisiana.
She speaks french well and is from quebec. Maybe she can chat with some cajuns.
