Relocating to Pineville area in January -- Have ???'s
Hello all,
My husband, myself and our 2 Labrador Retrievers will be moving to the Pineville area in January 2009. He will have his Associates Degree in Computer Aided Design/Drafting and Dis-Tran is already expressing interest in him. So hopefully finding a drafting job won't be to difficult with all the bigger companies there.
I plan on going to college, and start working towards my Associates Degree in Office Systems Technology, that summer as well.
Basically we need a 2 br, 1 ba home with a fenced in back yard that allows dogs (inside or outside). We need something at, or below, $600 a month - hopefully in Pineville or within 15 minutes drive.
We are looking at thetowntalk.com online as well as having family members keep an eye out on homes if they become available between now and when we are ready to move...however, if anyone knows of another way to find rental homes please let us know! We would like to have something worked out with a "landlord" by December and our family would be the go-between if needed.

Local real estate companies might be able to help you.
In general, desirable rent houses in Alexandria itself will be expensive. Any house in Alexandria less than $1000 a month will most likely not be in a good area. Outlying areas of Pineville, such as Tioga, Ball, Libuse, Deville, and Kolin or even South Grant Parish might be your best bet depending where in Pineville the job is.

The job will possibly be off Hwy. 28 East in Pineville.
Are there any apartments in our price range, that accept large dogs, near there?

I'm not sure of the price ranges of apartments in Pineville and which will accept large dogs. In the 28 East area there is Pine Highland, Quail Creek, Pine Trace (which I wouldn't recommend because I think they might be Section 8), Misty Hollow, and Parkchester. Elsewhere in Pineville there is Tanglewood Terrace, El Toro, and Cedar Court.

I hope you have better luck than I had. 1. My husband called and called numerous complexes in Pineville and not once did he ever get to talk to someone. So he drove over there a few times and no one was even in the office! 2. We have a Basset Hound and found most complexes only allow smaller breeds (less than 20 pounds), no exceptions.

Pineville
I know where DisTran is, I don't live too far away from there in Pineville. You can pick from several areas around Pineville, commuting is not bad at all from Deville, anything out on Philadelphia road (rent houses) will be nice, but I'm not sure about the prices. I'm not sure about apartments - you may have to find a house for a basset. Pollock is about 17 miles, not too far from Pineville, and will probably have houses for rent with lots big enough for a larger breed dog. Your best bet is probably to look in the Town Talk for ads of houses in the area. Other poster was right though - you may have to look further out for less than $600 and room for a basset. Tioga, Ball and Deville are alright, Pollock is nice.

Thanks happychic. I've got the Labs, the other poster has the basset though.
So far everything is looking good - in regards to DisTran. They seem very interested in my hubby and are impressed by his resume'.
I'll keep my eye on the Town Talk closer to time to move. Hopefully we can find a home to rent at a decent price.
