Moving to Delhi, LA from Fredericksbug, VA (Monroe: transferring to, gated community)

My husband just got a job in Louisiana and will be transferring to Delhi soon. My son and I will be joining him soon. I was wondering if anyone could tell me about the town. I know it's small, and I can do small, but I wanted to know what the people were like, is it pretty to look at, are there any neat chuches in the area. We are in our mid 20's and hope to make friends with people that have kids (our son is 16 months). I'm used to having stores near by and I know that won't be true with Delhi. I hear that Monroe is close by. I could probably do shopping there. But I just would really like some feed back on what the town is like and the people. Thank you so much!

We are also moving to that area due to my husband's job, and were down there last week looking at the area, property, etc. Monroe has all of the normal shopping (nice mall, target, kohls, toys r us, etc), and it's about 30 minutes from Delhi, so not too far. Vicksburg isn't too far either, and they also have a smaller mall, as well as an outlet mall with a lot of kids stores. We're planning to check into settlerspt.com, it's a nice gated community and there's also a golf course and park close by.
